Laptop Power Packs
Afternoon followers, I thought we should update you on the latest antics that we have been up to in the past week!
I am sure many of you are excited about the new season of Forumla 1 that has started, well done Jenson Button and well done to Lewis Hamilton for coming 3rd (Jano Trulli has been knocked down a place since the race finished), we look forward to an exciting season and who knows we may well see our gorgeous Jenson Button lift the trophy this year, how exiciting!
The Monkeys were flying all over the place last week, we have had many orders through Spain and a few items went across the pond to the USA; we really are becoming International!
We also started a Limited company so Mobi Power Packs is now an LTD, wooo hooo, we will go VAT registered shortly also and then it really starts to get scary!
We hired space last week at a Danish event to show case all the products, the event was centered around wine tasting and I even bought some myself ;)
We had a lot of interest from walkers, there is a group of people who will be walking the north of Spain next month, the walk is 800KM and they plan to walk 34KMs per day, this is where the PowerMonkey eXplorer will come into it's own, these walkers will be camping and covering 35KMs per day up a mountain, not much chance of finding somewhere to charge for a few days at a time, plus the Spanish weather will be packing out a few UV rays next month so the SolarMonkey will really perform, it will allow these walkers contact with the outside world while on their adventure.
The PowerMonkey will charge a mobile for 96 hours on standby, along with MP3 players, Blackberry, PDA, Nintendo and PSP, including digital cameras.
The SolarMonkey will charge your mobile via the UV power of the sun, the SolarMonkey will also charge PDA, Blackberry, PSP, Nintendo, Digital Cameras including powering portable speakers while charging the rechargeable batteries that are in the speakers, meaning you never need to be without charge while hiking, walking or camping!

How does a Solar Monkey work?
Yesterday we decided to get a little bit more techno and do our first informative video which demonstrates the Solar Monkey, Power Monkey and Sound Traveller speakers all working together using the power of the sun!
We have to say, however, that we are not the greatest when it comes to acting in front of the camera so we decided to stay out of the camera view and just do a voice over, we think it turned out well so we decided to show you, our readers and ask what you think of our first attempt at Monkey-ing around on video?
What is Solar Power?
OK, techy's let's talk about Solar Power and why we need it, as we know electricity is free electrons flowing along a cable and the sun does this by bombarding specific a thin layer of silicon with photons.
The bombardment releases electrons from the silicon sending it down the cable, giving you electricity, because so few electrons are released this way, currently we need large Solar Panels to give us a useful amount of electricity.
Today, however, with the advancement in silicon and chemicals such as nano phosphates we are getting better and better at releasing more electrons, gaining more power for the size of the panel, who knows? One day we may be powering our entire houses with a small solar panel on the roof.
Enough Solar Energy falls on the surface of the earth every forty minutes to meet the entire world's energy needs for the year.
The sun's power is produced by nuclear fusion which converts about 700 million tons of hydrogen to about 695 million tonnes of helium, the remaining 5 million tons is converted to energy during the reaction in the form of gamma rays and produces about 386 billion, billion mega watts!!!
This LASCO C2 image, taken 8 January 2002 by the Soho Space Observatory, shows a widely spreading coronal mass ejection as it blasts more than a billion tons of matter out into space at millions kilometres per hour. If you could remember this day, you would probably remember that your TV went a little funny!
